Accessible Assessments? : Inclusive practices in language testing and assessment
Jointly organised by the Inclusive Practices & SEN and Testing, Evaluation and Assessment SIGs
  • How can we make assessments more accessible for everyone?
  • What are the alternative inclusive methods of assessment?
  • What are the current exam access arrangements and accommodations? How can they be applied and implemented?
  • What are some ways to improve the accessibility of assessments?
  • How can we prepare disabled and neurodiverse learners for assessments?
The joint PCE between Inclusive Practices and SEN SIG (IP&SEN SIG) & Testing, Evaluation and Assessment SIG (TEASIG) aims to focus on and explore how inclusivity and testing and assessment cross paths in the form of summative (i.e. formal, high stakes, standardized) and formative (i.e. informal, low stakes, classroom-based) assessments while addressing and exploring the questions given above and others. The questions will be addressed in the sessions depending on the proposals submitted.
The theme of the PCE presents a crucial yet a relatively new question that will intrigue and bring together a range of researchers, exam writers and classroom teachers to share their expert areas and practices while giving a chance to learn from one another on how to apply some of these in their own contexts.

Please note, this Pre-Conference Event will be taking place offsite at the Friends Meeting House (see right for the full address). Delegates will need to register and collect their delegate badges from Manchester Central before making their way to the event.
